How to quit Velo
Velo comes in three lines. Can is 20 to a can at about 2 mg, about 4 mg and about 7 mg; tin is 15 to a tin at about 2 mg and about 4 mg; plus is 20 to a can at about 3 mg, about 6 mg and about 9 mg. The habit anons describe most often is a can a day, so the schedule below starts from a can of Velo can, 20 pouches. Change the count to yours; the calculator is live.
Everything on this page is arithmetic on the numbers printed on the can. Nicotine figures are what the can says is contained, never what a body absorbs. Velo prints "approximately" next to every strength, so every Velo figure here says about.

A 30-day step-down from a can a day
Linear taper, 20 pouches on day one to zero on day 31: 300 pouches you do not buy and about 1200 mg of nicotine not contained in them, at about 4 mg a pouch. The last day before quitting is one pouch. Then the clock starts.
Day one 19, day ten 14, day twenty 7, day 30 1. Stepped holds each level for a few days instead; the dashboard supports both and a strength step-down on a date you choose.
What the can says
Velo can, 20 to a can: a full can contains about 40 mg at about 2 mg, about 80 mg at about 4 mg and about 140 mg at about 7 mg of nicotine.
Velo tin, 15 to a tin: a full tin contains about 30 mg at about 2 mg and about 60 mg at about 4 mg of nicotine.
Velo plus, 20 to a can: a full can contains about 60 mg at about 3 mg, about 120 mg at about 6 mg and about 180 mg at about 9 mg of nicotine.
A can a day of can at about 4 mg is about 80 mg contained per day. That is the number the taper brings to zero.
What it costs
No manufacturer publishes a price for Velo, and we will not print one we cannot source. Enter what you pay in the calculator; prices vary by state and tax. The per-pouch figure is the price divided by 20 for can, 15 for tin or 20 for plus, and the yearly figure is the daily figure times 365 — the calculator does both and shows the week and the month in between. It asks which format you buy first, because a can of Velo is 20 or 15 pouches depending on the line and the same shelf price is a different price per pouch.

The first weeks
What anons report, not medicine: the first two or three days are mostly restlessness and a mouth that wants something in it; by the end of the first week the cues are the habit, not the nicotine — coffee, the car, the desk; by day thirty the money has become visible and the pouch count is a number you check rather than a feeling you obey. Everyone slips at least once. A slip is a slip.
Questions anons ask
- Which Velo strengths are there?
- about 2 mg, about 4 mg and about 7 mg in can, about 2 mg and about 4 mg in tin and about 3 mg, about 6 mg and about 9 mg in plus, as printed on the can (https://www.velo.com/us/footer-links/faq.html, as of 2026-09-02). Each strength has its own page with the full day-by-day schedule.
- How many pouches are in a can of Velo?
- 20 in can, 15 in tin and 20 in plus (https://www.velo.com/us/footer-links/faq.html, as of 2026-09-02). A can a day is the baseline the example schedule uses.
- Taper or cold turkey for Velo?
- Nobody here can tell you which works for you; anons report both. A taper makes the plan explicit so a slip is a slip, not the end. Cold turkey skips the schedule and starts the clock at your last pouch. The dashboard does either.
- Does this site sell Velo?
- No. We never sell, recommend or link to nicotine products. The only things we point at are the calculators, the dashboard and the people who are paid to know.
The calculator is the free sample. The dashboard is the habit.
