How the baseline gets measured

Read the median after 7 days
The middle value of your logged days, not the average, so one heavy day does not set the plan. It becomes the baseline of the taper.
What it deliberately does not do
It counts a thing you are trying to do less of, so it never rewards the count going up. No milestone, no streak, no colour change, no sound. A number, a cost, a day counter. When the plan exists the day counter becomes what is left of today's target.
Questions anons ask
- Why count before planning?
- Every taper schedule is derived from pouches per day. Most people give a number they would like to be true, and the plan is wrong from day one. Seven counted days are more honest than any estimate, and the counter makes the counting nearly free.
- How many Zyn a day is a lot?
- The counter does not say. It counts what you use; there is no red zone and no praise. A can of 15 in a day is 15 pouches, and the cost line shows what that costs at your price. What to do with the number is the taper calculator’s job.
- Why the median and not the average?
- One bad Saturday should not raise the number the whole taper starts from. The median is the day in the middle: half your days were above it, half below.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes. The counter is part of the installable app; every tap is written to your browser’s storage on the device, with no network involved. Nothing is uploaded.
- What if I forget a day?
- A day without a tap is a gap, not a zero: it counts for nothing and the seven days keep waiting. If it really was zero, say so in History. You can also add pouches to any earlier day there.
The counter is the first screen of the app. Seven days later it hands you the plan.
